Sony has announced its new Full Frame E-Mount Lens, the 20mm F1.8G, a wide-angle prime lens.
Sony states that the two advanced aspheric and three extra-low dispersion elements provide exceptional corner performance. The lens has nine aperture blades which provide circular out of focus highlights and excellent bokeh. Autofocus operation is provided by an XD linear motor and the minimum focus distance allows for 0.22x reproduction.
This lens weighs just 373 g and is slightly smaller than the FE 24mm F1.4GM.
The FE 20mm F1.8 has a linear response manual focus ring and an aperture control ring that can be de-clicked for video. There is an AF/MF switch and a user-assignable focus hold button. These features will allow precise control over lens operation.
The lens is built to resist dust and moisture and accepts 67mm filters. The lens will be available starting March 2020 for approximately $900.
